FileLime

11:17 pm

I’m a fangirl, so I’m always trying to share high quality photos and vids with my fannish friends, but the major upload sites such as SendSpace and megaupload are a bit of a pain.

Today I tried a new site called FileLime. It’s the easiest upload I’ve ever done - no forms to fill out, no email required and I really like the upload meter that keeps you well informed of your progress.

On the downside, I found it a bit confusing because it says I can do multiple files (I’m assuming they mean uploading at once) but if you navigate off the upload page to pick another file you lose your upload. Or maybe you don’t, but the upload meter goes away so there’s no telling.

In general, I like this clean and easy upload site. Now I need one of my friends to test the download - and if it’s just as easy then this will be my new favorite upload site.

Oh, and there’s a bonus. They’re running a contest right now where you can win an iPod Touch, so check it out here.

Here’s a cool contest from a new blog that wants to help you start a new business. Here’s what Red Hot Franchises has to say about their new contest:

What I Stumbled Upon #1

12:55 am

StumbleUpon My StumbleUpon PageI love Stumble Upon (who doesn’t). So I thought I’d share some cool sites I landed on today.

How about The Original Light Saber Simulator - totally silly and useless and way cool.

Still think there’s a hidden message in that rock tune played backwards? Now you can find out for sure with TalkBackwards. Upload any sound file and this site will play it backwards for you. Hours of fun.

And you can’t go wrong with weird facts about familiar products. Geritol, Frisbee, Ivory Soap, it’s the secret life of everyday products.

And finally something weird and scary, a huge sinkhole in Guatemala. Check out the pictures.

The Amazon Kindle

12:39 am

Have you seen this new gizmo? It’s a hand-held reader from Amazon that has one great advantage over older readers — it’s wireless.  And it works anywhere without a PC or a WiFi connection.  How is that even possible.

Amazon claims this thing can show magazine pages as clear as the real thing (just think of all the paper that will be saved) and there are more than 90,000 books, newspapers and blogs in the catalog that you can choose from.

Yes, I said blogs.  This thing works as a portable blog reader.  Okay, so you can only choose the blogs they offer right now and they do charge, but still - iTunes charges for songs so why not for blogs you can carry around?

I’m seriously tempted to buy this thing.  It puts my current reader (which I really enjoy) to shame, but it is a tad on the pricey side.  Hmm. . . should have asked Santa to get me one for Christmas.

So I start my new blog (yes, I have several) with a post about CompGifts: The Frugal Living Blog.

More and more I find myself looking for ways to save money. Groceries have gone up at least 25% in my area and I have a teenage son to feed! I do the coupons and I love freebies, so I’m always looking for new ideas and tips.

I already saw a tip on the blog I need to try, it’s about using lemon Kool-aid to clean your dishwasher! Mine needs it and I was about to get one of those expensive cleaners I saw on TV. I think I’ll try the Kool-aid first. It makes sense.

One thing I learned a long time ago though, never put liquid dish soap in the dishwasher! What a mess!

10:45 pm

I wonder how many WordPress blogs out there still have this “Hello World” post as the first one in their blog. . . .
